5 Napa Wine and Book Pairings for This Summer

While harvest in the Napa Valley is quickly approaching, I’m still enjoying the sweet summer lifestyle Napa has to offer. As a local marketer and photographer, I’m always using the creative part of my brain. One of my favorite ways to decompress and relax combines my two favorite things —  reading and wine.

I came across this book a while back and loved the casual, easy-reading story about a woman named Hannah. Hannah has the ideal world. A high-paying job, a Manhattan apartment, a loving boyfriend, and by all accounts, the type of life people strive to achieve. On a trip to Sonoma, her whole world changes. She is offered a job at a local Sonoma winery and decides to take a gamble by moving her entire life across the country.

It’s the perfect read for sitting by the pool. I would pair a glass of crisp, acidic Sauvignon Blanc.

While many people are hesitant to discuss the darker side of the Napa Valley, writer Frances Dinkelspiel takes readers through one of the darkest moments for many people — the historic fire that destroyed countless vintages of wines.

This ready is a roller coaster and I suggest a nice, big Cabernet to pair.

I’m still in the middle of exploring this book, but if you want a cheeky, sassy point of view on wine then look no further. Michael Amon takes his readers through the ins and outs of what to drink, what to explore and does so with a level of humor that is not typical in the wine industry. I highly recommend this book for your coffee table!

What to pair? I’m thinking something a little spicy like Syrah.

I know. You’re probably thinking, why a book on investing for a summer list? Well, this is my list of summer reads. I have a deep interest in personal finance and honestly, this book is the perfect, approachable way to introduce people into taking control of your finances. Trust me, it’s not a dry read.

Pairing — Something soft and playful like a Pinot.

This book enthralled me from the beginning because it combined history and mystery. Everything revolves around the story of Count Dracula and one family journey exploring this storied legend. It is a long, quiet read perfect for the moments you want to get lost in a book w
